2006 Personal yet Public: YEAR IN REVIEW!!!
By:Rob Ryzin

Here ya go, the moment all Rob Ryzin fans have been waiting for: The Ryzin Year in Review!, in case ya are new to reading this or don't understansd the concept I will explain it to you, this is a Commentary/blog describing in my own words how I felt that the year for me went in wrestling, i critique and criticize my own abilities and progress, then I tell fans in the blog simply so people can see what I want(ed) to accomplish and what I have accomplished what i am proud of and what i am not so proud of in the year 2006. then I close the blog by giving the fans a detailed description on what I intend to do in the new year (2007) and  give my new years resolution(s) that may seem unreachable or hard to get, then I aim for it all year round. So without further adeu, here I go! :

2006 was a big year for me in my opinion, I was extremly fortunate in doing alot this year and although a few huge oppurtuinites got missed I still was able to capitalize on other things and in my opinion 2006 was my biggest year yet. Locally, I continued to wrestle for RMCW and they as well had there successes and there mishaps I as well as the rest of the roster were able to breifly wrestle in the RMCW events center before changes were made there and over all this time Ryzin was able to be consistant with some great feuds and great stories that RMCW fans will tell for a long time, in RMCW i as well performed in a few more "extreme" over the top matches, including a T.L.C triple threat with Wylde and Shauma, as well as a NO DQ match with Rowdy Knight that seriously pushed the both of us to the limit. I had many AWA-RMCW title shots this year but unfortunatly lost all of them either by not capitilizing on key pins or by takin' high risks that did not compute forcing me to lose the match on my own. I also had some great singles matchups with the likes of Carrion, Don Juan, and had 2 of my favorite matches in RMCW one was with the 13 yer old sensation Quantum and the 2nd was with Colorado newcomer (at that time) J.D Hall, needless to say although I beat him in our first encounter I see a few more big matches between me and him in "07! All in all, RMCW was an adventure from beginning to end. Also in Colorado the Independent scene was bombarded by SAGA Pro Wrestling, it returned this year after a brief hiatus, and I was fortunate enough to be asked to be apart of the new era of SAGA Pro and needless to say it totally surpassed my expectations and is now in my opinion a force to be reckoned with in the Colorado independent scene! I haven't had 1 match that i was proud of in SAGA and i doubt I ever will, the talents all differ from one another and bring new and unique elements to the table. I finished up the year in a championship match with Lonnie Valdez, and for the "old school" fans of colorado wrestling Lonnie has been a vet in the scene for sometime, and although he has floated around the companies much like myself me and him had never crossed paths. So this was special to the fans because it had never been seen, the match was a falls count anywhere, and me and him battled all through the Buffalo Rose and back to the ring and the crowd was back and forth, and there were many false counts and near falls, but in the end Lonnie had got the best of me and retained the SAGA Dual Crown titles...... I anticipate a HUGE Year for SAGA Wrestling. Last, in Colorado I was extremly fortunate to wrestle with a Lucha company that was touring the area there name: ALLWA, they did 2 shows here and I was involved with both of them, these shows were great and I got good lucha experience and met a few names, i am glad I did both shows, but they were both also a very nerve wrecking shows, but those were for different reasons...... I was able to talk to the promoter a lot and it led to some out of state booking in El Paso,TX that brought big oppurtunities and good contacts and friendships. This brings me to my next topic which was out of state wrestling!
Since already bringing up the company I will start with the ALLWA, I wrestled out there only once this year, late in the year, and it was me and FX stealing Identification to claim Canada and participate in there 1st ever Freedom Cup tournament. We went down there in hopes of winning the prestigous prize, but were dominated by Team Mexico who made short work of us.The trip home was a "fun yet frustrating" nightmare that I will never forget but thats a different story for a different time, but at least the ALLWA Show was great and exciting!  I hope that I can get the ball rollin' there as well, I have a few challenges in mind with some of there wrestlers.......so hopefully we can work out some crazy matchups in 2007!! from one part of Texas to another, I spent some time in Amarillo,TX in 2005, and found a company at that time who due to mis-timing and me not having a tape of my matches was unable to compete there in 05" but in the opening of 2006 I found myself involved with one of the most professional, well put together companies I have ever worked for, and that was the WWA (West-Texas Wrestling Association) I have made that drive numerously over this past year and love working there as often as I can! I have had great matchups and I consider this one of my favorite companies to work for....... I was featured in there commercial, and even got to tango with 7"2 giants, the crowd is very loyal and always hot and loud and its just a fun atmosphere inside and out..... I will return to the Texas Panhandle in Janurary so be prepared for another successful Ryzin year in Amarillo! Last but seriously not least I was offered a spot in the Johnny Grunge memorial show in Rapid City,SD, there I teamed with rival "Carrion" and had a great time with all the wrestlers, and was happy to show my condolences to the Johnny Grunge family by performing to raise money for them. My goal last year was to hit 2 new "out of Colorado" promotions and I passed that with flying colors.......this year, I will embark on more journeys across the U.S!
With all good things in a year ya have to roll with some bad, as I stated above I was able to capitalize, easy and was able to keep a level head in all things that went bad, although there isn't too much bad, there are a few things like me still not capturing a championship, and it was continously teased that a Rob Ryzin VS Kirby Mack match was gonna happen which also didn't, but perhaps this year if not I can always challenge his brother TJ who is the current AWA lightheavyweight champ, but regardless of if Kirby has the title or not me and him still have some bad blood over the arguing we brewed of this year. My biggest regret was not getting to wrestle former WWE Superstar Zach Gowen, I had breifly worked with him in South Dakota as we were "warming up" for our opponents later that night, and I was thrilled when i heard that the 2 of us would lock horns in Colorado, for the AWA! Unfortunatly, and I won't go into details because I dunno the "back-story" but it never happened, and that was hard to swallow as it would for anyone, 'cause I was mentally and physically prepared to go all out, and it was even harder to see such a large attendance show up to the bad news, but I believe RMCW stepped up and made the Best of a tough situation, and that show came off real well. regardless. So other than a few bumps ,sprains and bruises, over the year I don't have anything else to complain about it was simply just that good of a year!
On to more good stuff, I was fortunate to be in the media quite a bit this year, I finished last year "05" with a thing on FoxNews that I put together, and this year as i stated earlier was in the Amarillo WWA's Commercials (which I am Appreciative about to the Max!) RMCW repaid me for the Fox31 news clips, and allowed me to be apart of the WB2 News Morning Show with Chris Parente, I was on the cover and in a cover story in Boulder's "Daily Camera" newspaper, but this year my Greatest Media exposure came over the radio, KS107.5 has one of the Most popular morning shows in the state, and on the brink of Wrestlemania they had brought up that wrestling was fake but Kendall B loved it, this brought me on the line for a quick interview, we discssed wrestling tights and gear, wrestlemania, the ins and outs of wrestling, and I was even able to promote RMCW's upcoming show. They teased the wrestling gear a little bit and mocked the sports entertainment a bit, all in fun of course but then Larry Ulibarri mocked a Rob Ryzin promo when he compared my current voice to how he believed I sounded in the ring saying in a deep loud voice: "I'M ROB RYZIN AND I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!"  we all laughed and they let me go, we talked a bit more over email, and to my surprise they had made a commercial of our whole convo...they chopped it up to commercial form to promote there morning show which the commercial ended in "I'M ROB RYZIN AND I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!" that played for many months and I got so much response from the commercial. That was Amazing to me and still mesmurizes me!
Finally, I will explain what I plan an intend for 2007. I will keep this short, sweet and to the points, simply 'cause I want people to read this column and I doubt anyone wants to stick around for another lengthy chapter so I will shorten this one out. In 2007 I wanna continue to push myself harder as a competitor and a character, I want to make good travel and wrestle numerous states yet again and companies. I wanna continue to mold my body to have more muscle and tan a bit as well, so that I make myslef more marketable then I already am. I wanna utilize my contacts to bring more talent to Colorado, and I of course wanna wrestle a few wrestlers who are in the "Big Time" Limelight, simply to see what I can do against those competitors, I wanna push myself to the maximum in order to finally win a Championship, furthermore I wanna win Numerous Championships! In 2006 I wrestled 25 shows through the year and this year I look to beat that by at least 5 more show in 2007. Other than continuing to make a name for myself  in anyway I can I want what every wrestler strives for and that is to make Pro Wrestling a full time career. Now, i am not saying I AM gonna make it big time or if I ever will, and that isn't one of my resolutions or promises for this year, but every wrestler is in this business to TRY to make it, and thats what intend to continue to do! Thank you all for taking the time to read this and i hope to hear feedback from anyone and everyone who check this out! Thanks Again and have a great rest of 2006!
